Ermine alopecia is no more mysterious than the medical term for hair loss. The disease itself, also known as black skin disease, is poorly understood. This condition in animals is called alopecia X because the cause of this condition is still relatively unknown, and treatment is mostly done through trial and error (or, as some would say, by chance). This disease can easily be confused with \u201cCushing\u2019s disease.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The disease initially manifests itself as hair loss, sometimes accompanied by itching of the skin, sometimes not, followed by bald patches, then blackened or dark gray skin. Eventually, the dog may become completely bald with a deep charcoal gray skin. The dog often smells very bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The dogs mentioned above had alopecia X. Many dogs with this condition have no other symptoms and the condition can be considered cosmetic. This is actually the approach of many veterinarians, who suggest that a dog wear a sweater to keep them warm. The condition can be genetic, or more precisely, a predisposition or predisposition to the condition can be part of a dog's genetic makeup.
